All About Seedless Plants

    In my blog, I would be talking about seedless plants and everything that you've got to know about it! It might be boring telling you all about seedless plants, but to make it better, ill include fun and a twist in my blog. Ill be showing pictures and information's that would help you with your lessons, assignments, upcoming quiz.


As we all know, plants are autotrophs, and they make food or organic nutrients. Organic nutrients meaning compounds that contains carbon. Plants undergo photosynthesis to be able to make food and organic nutrients that makes us strong.

    Now, there are two types of plants, the seedless plants and the plants with seeds. And since I'm talking about seedless plants, Vascular plants are seedless p. I'm going to give a little info about both of these and later on, you'll learn more.
Vascular plants- have true conducting tissues, leaves, stems, and roots to help the fertilization process
Non vascular plants- require water for fertilization so they must grow in moist habitats.



Vascular Plants 

    Vascular plants have structures called true roots, stems and leaves. Vascular tissues is obviously present in them and they are also large in size. It has a cuticle to reduce water evaporation from leaves. They can also grow to many inches high. Examples of vascular plants are ferns, conifers, and flowering plants. Ferns do not produce flowers or grow from seeds, that is why they are called seedless plants. They have two distinct stages, in spores and in sex cells are produced. Seedless plants stay in damp and shady habitats.

Ferns produce spores in capsules inside chambers of the underside of their leaves. In dry conditions, the capsules release the spores into the air. When a spore lands on a moist ground, it develops into a tiny, shaped structure called a prothallus. This produces the sex cells. Fertilized by male sperm, the female egg of the prothallus develops into a new adult plant


Non vascular Plants


    Non vascular plants do not have true roots, stems and leaves. It is the complete opposite of Vascular plants. They appear to have roots, stems, and leaves but these are not true organs. Because of this, the plants cannot reach water under the soil. Instead, they absorb water directly through their cell walls and the water moves from cell to cell. They also don't have vascular tissue. As I mentioned earlier, non vascular plant is the complete opposite of vascular plant. The roots, stems, and leaves are considered not true because they do not have vascular tissues. It limits the size of the plant because it cannot transport water and nutrients because of the strong pull of gravity. It also cannot survive in dry areas. It needs water for reproduction. Water is needed for the sperm to swim to the egg. Examples of this is mosses, liverworts, and hornworts. Non vascular plants usually from one-two centimeters high.

♠Mosses and liverworts are known as bryophytes. Adult bryophytes produce the sex cells. Fertilized female eggs then grow into a stalked sporophyte or spore capsule. Once they are released, the spores develop into the next generation of moss.


Examples of seedless vascular plants are ferns, whisk ferns, horsetails, and club mosses. The plants do not produce seeds, so they spread by windblown spores. They are vascular plants (as mentioned earlier) and have true roots, stems, and leaves. The sperm are flagellated and needs water for reproduction. They are limited to moist areas.
